Automating cash allocation: The Canal & River Trust Story

Canal & River Trust successfully implement Rimilia’s award winning automation software Alloc8 to increase efficiency in cash allocation

Canal & River Trust, the charity responsible for the care of waterways across England and Wales are the latest organisation to benefit from using Rimilia cash automation.

Prior to the implementation of Alloc8 software, the cash allocation process was manually intensive with it being difficult for the team to manage the quarterly peaks in payments relating to customers renting quay spaces for mooring boats.

Since going live with Alloc8, cash is now managed in one central location and the current combined automatching rate is 66% with a reduced team of 3 people working only on cash allocation.

The Alloc8 project implementation was unique because it required the technical team at Rimilia to carry out bespoke work in order for journals to work correctly as the team at Canal & River Trust used a specific version of SAP.

Rimilia Project Analyst Tony Harvey commented;

“It was a real pleasure to work with Sarah and the team at the head office in Leeds. Alloc8 was received very well and staff realised the benefits early on. We are very pleased that the implementation of Alloc8 also contributed to the Canal and River Trust in gaining ISO accreditation”.

Janet Chapman, Sales to Cash Manager for Canal & River Trust said;

"We were very impressed with the knowledge of the implementation team. They were clearly experienced in cash allocation and the issues that can arise. We worked together to set simple rules to get the product up and running. The whole experience through implementation to go live was a pleasure. The Rimilia team were very approachable and easy to work with.

The Alloc8 system has been revolutionary in making efficiencies with our processes. We have cut down our processing time for Bacs and Cheques by over half.  The facility to see the scanned cheques is a real benefit not only to the cash team but for credit control when chasing debt.

The implementation process was very thorough and we found the Rimilia team knowledgeable about the product and services they had to offer. They worked very closely with us to iron out any initial issues we came across and tailored the product to our needs. We have no hesitation in recommending Rimilia and do so on a regular basis”.
